XXXIІI Конвенція СУА 258 UNWLA Branch 144 organizes various activities that help build community, advocate for Ukraine, educate the public, and raise funds. Celebrations of Ukrainian traditions and holidays, such as Christmas, Easter picnics, and Children’s Day, along with participation in Ukrainian Orthodox Church services, help bring the community together. The Branch also organizes and participates in public advocacy events such as remembrance vigils, the Flying Pig Marathon, photo exhibits such as the one on Mariupol by Maloletka and Chernov, and rallies and marches to raise awareness about Ukraine’s situation. The Branch showcases Ukrainian culture through workshops on traditional crafts such as making necklaces, pysanky (decorated eggs), vytynanky (paper cuttings), pletinka (braiding), and petrykivka (decorative painting). The Cincinnati Ukrainian Festival is another highlight, offering the broader community a chance to experience Ukrainian culture. Donations raised at these events are directed towards helping Ukrainians in need, both locally and abroad, providing essential supplies and support. UNWLA Branch 144 not only supports the local Ukrainian American community but also acts as a bridge between Ukraine and the United States. By fostering understanding and collaboration among diverse communities, the Branch aims to make a positive impact and ensure Ukrainian culture thrives. In summary, UNWLA Branch 144 in Cincinnati is a crucial organization that supports Ukraine, preserves cultural heritage, and fosters a strong, inclusive community. Through their efforts, they are making a meaningful difference and enriching the cultural landscape of Cincinnati.
