XXXIІI Конвенція СУА 243 Established in 2013, Branch 135 is among the youngest Branches in UNWLA; however, what we lack in longevity, we make up for in enthusiasm and a heartfelt desire to assist our sisters and brothers in Ukraine! We are blessed to all be parishioners of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, which allows us to work in concert with our pastor, Rev. Ivan Turyk, on many of our charitable endeavors. In support of the UNWLA mission, these events were organized by Branch 135: Advocate (2022-2023) • participated in several rallies to protest russia’s invasion of Ukraine (local, Washington DC) • commemorated Ukraine’s Den’ Nezalezhnosty (Edison, NJ; Perth Amboy) • participated in Ukraine Action Summit to advocate for US Congress to provide aid (Washington, DC) Cultivate (2022) • organized Ukrainian heritage exhibit and lecture (Church of the Assumption) Educate (2023-2024) • collaborated with Branch 75 to present a lecture about the Holodomor ( Rutgers University) • held a “ Pysanka Creation Event” (Church of the Assumption; Holmdel (NJ) Community Center) Care (2022-2024) • provided financial support for the recovery and recuperation of a wounded AFU veteran • made financial contributions to organizations in Ukraine: Nazareth Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Center (Drohobych); Diaspora Library (Myrhorod, Poltava); Maria Burmaka Foundation; Caritas (Zolochiv); St. Nicholas Orphanage (Kolomyia); Hospitallers Medical Battalion; AFU:10th Mountain Battalion; AFU: Unit A2943; Mercy Housing (Lviv), and Lvivskiy Lytsar (Lviv).
