8 OUR LIFE • December 2025 Natalie Pawlenko brought the program to a graceful close, extending deep gratitude and appreciation to all attendees, sponsors, and supporters, and above all to every UNWLA member. “This day reminds us that we are all part of this great living tapestry — each thread, each heart, each voice woven together through time ... this remarkable sisterhood that endures and inspires.” The uplifting and joyful atmosphere continued into the Centennial reception, where guests were wel- comed with glasses of sparkling Prosecco and a strik - ing step-and-repeat backdrop featuring the Centennial logo — a perfect spot for photos that remained a pop - ular gathering point throughout the afternoon. With heartfelt appreciation, Her Excellency Olha Stefanishy - na, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the U.S., and His Excellency Andrij Melnyk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, joined UNWLA leadership and members for photos at the step-and-repeat. Another favorite photo opportunity was the stun - ning Members-at-Large Threads of Unity Quilt, com- posed of 101 embroidered squares contributed by UNWLA members from around the country and care - fully pieced together to symbolize unity in this land - mark 100th anniversary celebration. At the reception, guests mingled and chatted, fre- quently stopping members of the Planning Commit - tee to share their enthusiastic praise for the day’s events. The specially prepared hors d’oeuvres by Ve - selka and the signature Centennial Bloom cocktail also received glowing compliments. As the afternoon drew to a close, Natalie Pawlenko invited everyone to join in a resounding “Mnohaya Lita” in honor of the Branch 143 members with Natalie Pawlenko. Centennial — a celebration of an organization whose spirit lives on in each member of the UNWLA. From the first words spoken — recalling the light kindled in 1925 — to the final notes of song in “Mnohaya Lita,” the afternoon stood as a vivid and heartfelt reminder of the strength, vision, and unity that have guided the UNWLA for the past 100 years — and will continue to inspire its path forward. “And we’re just getting started!”
