НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Грудень 2025 7 strength of women’s solidarity that can transcend borders and circumstances, uniting the past and the future.” Marianna Zajac then set the stage for the performance by recalling the very beginnings of the UNWLA and the dedicated women who “had no road map — but had a mission and a vision!” She emphasized that “through every hardship, UNWLA members held on to one another and held fast to Ukraine,” adding that “we are not just the inheritors of the UNWLA legacy, we are also its stewards, and today, at our Centennial Celebration, we are its storytellers!” With these words, she introduced the long-awaited perfor - mance of A Legacy in Motion. Little had been shared publicly about the performance of A Legacy in Motion , as the Planning Commit - tee intentionally chose to celebrate this historic milestone in an innova- tive, non-traditional way — through a staged play — and hoped that anticipa - tion would build leading up to October 19. Written and directed by Romana A scene from the production A Legacy in Motion. Сцена з постановки «Спадщина, що Живе». Natalie Pawlenko closing the program. Soutus, a playwright and the founder of the NASHi experimen- tal culture project based in Kyiv ( see our story on page 14 ), the production featured three Ukrainian American actresses who portrayed multiple generations of UNWLA members, stepping into each other’s stories and moving seamlessly through time. Within the play, they prepared for the Centennial Celebration while revisiting key moments in history to which the UNWLA had responded. Musical interludes enriched the atmosphere, while creative lighting enhanced the mood and underscored moments of reflection. The performance concluded powerfully with the words: “And we’re just getting started!” A Legacy in Motion captivated the audience and was met with heartfelt applause and a standing ovation. Oresta Starak, First Secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy to the U.S., presented greetings from President Zelensky. Ореста Старак, перша секретарка посольства України в США, передала вітання від Президента Зеленського.
