НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Грудень 2025 15 Scenes from A Legacy in Motion, performed at the UNWLA Centennial Celebration on October 19. to the world. Unfortunately, NASHi was one of the casualties of the revision of foreign aid in January 2025, and the grant was rescinded. Undeterred, the NASHi Experimental Theatre Club continues to work diligently to present exciting Ukrainian works internationally. Of course, it is not easy running a theatre dur - ing a war and in a city that is often in a state of air raids. Many of Ukraine’s most beloved artists immediately answered the call to defend Ukraine at the outset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, and those who were still not mobilized had no way to present their work to audiences outside the country. But NASHi embodies the Ukrainian spirit by staying strong and continuing to move for - ward with dedication and commitment despite the obstacles. Ukrainians’ commitment and love for our tradi - tions are among our defining features. But what we consider a tradition today was at one time ex - perimental. We can look at the work of visionaries like Les Kurbas and forget that his work had pushed boundaries during his lifetime. The NASHi Experi- mental Theatre Club works with Ukraine’s young experimental theatre impresarios in order for them to ask “What does it mean to be Ukrainian today?” and create work that will help Ukrainians around the world feel seen and understood.
