Music plays an important role at all joyous Ukrainian occasions, and the 80/70/60 celebration was no exception. The event included a wonderful medley of songs performed by soloist and bandurist Ostap Stachiw. Between songs, Mr. Stachiw told fascinating stories about his personal experiences during the days of the Orange Revolution in Kyiv. Additional musical entertainment was provided by Detroit’s own Soloveyky Quartet: Lisa Calice, Lily Litynskyj, Natalka Maruszczak, and Kristie Ol szewski. The Soloveyky, several of whom are Br. 115 members, were resplendent in richly em broidered Ukrainian traditional attire generously donated by Mrs. Anna Hnatiuk from her private collection. Directed by Mrs. Olga Dubriwnyj- Solovey (Br. 58), the Quartet performed a selection of songs from its newly launched CD. The event included a raffle, organized by Christina Panasiuk, and eight lucky ticket holders won special keepsakes from the Jubilee—Ukrainian paintings and embroidery. A benediction by Reverend Philip Sandrick, Pastor of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in Warren, concluded a most eventful and inspirational day.
