The speakers at the event were Tetyana Izhevska, Director of the Department of Humanitarian and Cultural Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the wife of Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oleli Shamshur; Mr. Wally Bacre Ndiaye, Director of the New York Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights; and President of the International Council of Women from Singapore, Dr. Anamah Tan. The moderator for this panel was Ramu Damodaran, Department of Public Information, Chief, Civil Society Service. The topic was “Equal Participation of women and men in decision making processes at all levels.” That same evening a reception was hosted by the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and the Ukrainian Museum. For the women arriving at the Museum following the busy schedule of the day at the UN Commission, the reception was very relaxing and pleasant. Most of the women were delegates from National Councils from around the world; guests representing UN teams from National Councils from Geneva, Rome, Vienna and other cities also attended. Everyone was impressed with the museum’s new building and with the featured exhibits. UNWLA President Iryna Kurowyckyj and Maria Shust, Director of Ukrainian Museum, welcomed the distinguished guests and acknowledged their presence with appropriate introductions. Among the special guests were the Permanent Representative from Ukraine to the United Nations, his Excellency Valeriy Kuchinsky, and his wife Alla, as well as two young diplomats from the Ukrainian Mission who helped make arrangements for the conference, Vitaliy Pohribny and Volodymyr Pekarchuk. A special welcome was also given to the newly arrived Consul General of Ukraine to New York, Mykola Kyrychenko, and his wife Olena. The following guests were also introduced and acknowledged for their important work: Dr. Anamah Tan, ICW President, a member of team of experts of the Convention on Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women; Tetyana Izhevska, Director of Department of Humanitarian and Cultural Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sorts of Ukraine; Tetiana Kolosova, Head of Analytical Division, Office of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine; Natalia Shakuro, Head of Division on Cultural Relations Department of Humanitarian and Cultural Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Larysa Polska, Deputy President of Ukrainian Female Association Diya; National Council President, Mary Singletary and her executive Committee as well as the NCW UN team; and Nadia Shmigel, the main UN representative for the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations and her team, Dr. Daria Dykyj and Slawa Rubel.
