Tw o parties m entioned wom en within the context of fam ily and children. Th e Ukrainian People’s Dem ocratic Party specifically went on the record to support “private program s and initiatives directed tow ard the support of m others and ch ildren.” It also affirm ed that "the salary of the working m em bers of the fam ily should be adequate to support the w hole fam ily to ensure that children and dependents could live in the prevailing fashion.” The language did not refer to gender, so that either men or wom en could be breadwinners or dependents. The Ukrainian Christian D em ocratic Party was more specific. IR Y N A K U R O W Y C K Y J P A R T IC IP A T E S IN U N A -U S A C O N V E N T IO N The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA- USA) National Convention, held in San Francisco from June 25 to June 28, 1995, celebrated the 50th anniver sary of the signing of the U.N. Charter by bringing together presidents and leaders of national and interna tional organizations representing more than 50 million people from the entire spectrum of American society to express and formulate their support for the United Nations. Among the national leaders who played a role at the convention was Iryna Kurowyckyj, President of the National Council of Women of the U.S. Organizational leaders, including Ms. Kurowyckyj, were honored at a reception celebrating their important role in society and the value of their relationship with UNA-USA in forging understanding and support of the United Nations. Ideal for a buffet dinner). 2/3 cup dry bread crumbs 1/2 tsp. dried thyme pinch of pepper 4 thin slices Black Forest ham (about 3/4 lb total) 1 lb turkey or chicken, scallopini* 2 tsp Dijon mustard 2 oz Swiss cheese 1 egg lightly beaten cherry or yellow teardrop tomatoes — In pie plate, combine bread crumbs, thyme, and pepper; microwave at High, uncovered, for 2 to 3 min utes or until toasted, stirring every minute. Set aside. — Arrange 1 slice ham over each of 4 slices of turkey; spread mustard evenly over ham. Cut cheese into 12 pieces; place 3 pieces on top of each ham slice. Fold in sides of turkey and roll up. — Place egg in shallow dish; dip turkey rolls into egg, coating well. Dip into bread crumbs, coating all over. Arrange on round serving dish like spokes of a wheel; cover with waxed paper and microwave at Medium (50%) for 8 to 10 minutes rotating dish twice. Let stand for 3 minutes, garnish with tomatoes.
