The medical Aid Fund program for children and youth, sponsored by UNWLA is a suc cessful one, thanks to the generosity of many individuals in our communities, as well as to members of our organization. Through this program ill or handicapped youngsters in Brazil or Europe can receive medical attention, medicines or special equipment to help them lead happier, pain-free lives. Good health is life’s most precious gift. Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with it. It is extremely sad when a child is ill and his or her family cannot afford the necessary opera tion, doctor’s care or medications. UNWLA’s Medical Aid program seeks out the neediest cases and provides the funds for whatever procedure is warranted. There is a long list of has-been patients, youngsters who today can enjoy their childhood, who can walk, go to school, who have a good chance for a bright future — because supporters of this program understood the importance of their investment. Each contribution to the Medical Aid pro gram is an investment in a young life. From June 1986 to January 1987 the Fund has received s6,890. We are very grateful to the many people who suport this very important program. With deep regret UNWLA learned about the death of Father Jaroslav Trojanecky in Los Angeles. He was a remarkable man, socially, culturally and politically active for the Ukrainian cause throughout his life. He became a priest at the age of 63. Father Trojanecky was a staunch supporter and contributor to the UNWLA’s Medical Aid Fund for Children program, to which he willed s7,000. СВЯТИЙ ВЕЧІР 23-го ВІДДІЛУ Святий Вечір 23-го Відділу СУА відбувся 11-го січня 1987-го р. в шкільній авдиторії при церкві св. Івана Хрести теля в Дітройті, Міч. Численно зійшлися гості та союзянки, щоб відсвятку вати українські традиції Святого Вечора. Ялинка приміщена на боці головного стола втішала очі ясними світлами. Стіл цей прибраний був копачами, свічками й снопом пшениці, на усіх інших рівнож світилися свічки і були вони гарно прибрані, так що збуджували в наших серцях святочні від чуття. Голова Відділу Люба Петрик привітала всіх святочним привітом ’’Христос Рожджається” та відкрила свято вступ ним словом і попросила о. декана Івана Лазаря до святоч ної молитви "Бог Предвічний”. Традиційну Святу Вечерю приготовили союзянки, член ки 23-го Відділу під проводом Господарського Комітету та голови кухні Анни Версти. На свято завітала до нас голова Окружної Управи, Орися Лончина та священики: наш о. парох Йосиф Шарий, о. Тома Ґлен та з церкви Неустаючої Помочі о. декан Іван Лазар та Сестри. По вечері проводила програмою Люба Петрик і попро сила Нусю Калинич продеклямувати вірш Олі Терлецької "На Свят Вечір”. Марія Лазарчук відчитала, як колись об ходили це свято наші діди і прадіди в Україні. Потім сліду вав вірш "Різдво”, написаний сестрою Лесею, який прочи тала Люба Петрик. Голова Округи, О. Лончина привітала гостей та союзя- нок та дала признання 23-му Відділові на майбутнє. Ліліяна Югась відчитала вірш "Свят Вечір” Ол. Грановського. О. крилошанин Йосиф Шарий дав признання і подякував 23- му Відділові за влаштування Свят Вечора при церкві св. Івана Хрестителя, підкреслюючи, що ми, союзянки, під тримуємо наші українські традиції. Професор К. Ціпенда проводив колядками, які ми всі колядували. Програму закінчив молитвою о. крилошанин Йосиф Шарий. Надя Свистун — пресова референтка 23-го Від. ЖУРНАЛ ДЛЯ ’’БАБУСІ” Замість квітів на могилу бл. п. Олі Качмарської пересилаю 15.00 дол. на передплату "Нашого Життя” для "Бабусі”. Ю.
