The panel discussions and w orking sessions concentrated on th e practical problem s of U krainian re ality as th ey ex ist today in th e USA, such as problem s of U k rain ian culture, religion, education, eco nom ics, etc. The w orking sessions of th e Convention produced a series of recom m endations. U nderlying all of th ese w as a req u est fo r a fo r m ulation of a common U krainian “public relatio n s’’ policy, of m u tu al toleration betw een th e v ari ous factions of th e U krainian com m unity and of and increased particip ation by th e m em bers of th e U krainian com m unity in “A m erican” life, such as politics or com m unity pro jects. These will, it is hoped, provide a basis fo r changing A m erican ideas about U krainians and fo r facili ta tin g our positive contribution tow ards a solution of w orld con flicts. Of course, th e im plem en tatio n of th ese recom m endations will depend n o t only on th e en ergies and determ ination of th e people charged w ith th e task , b u t in a g re a t degree on th e good will of all of us. U N W LA P resid en t S tefan ia P u sh k ar, who is NCW ’s M igra tion C hairm an, gave th e guests a background sketch of th e Mu seum — how th e articles w ere collected fo r alm ost fo u r decades and th e U N W LA ’s good fo rtu n e in being able to place th e collec tions in th e fam ed m ansion on N ew Y ork’s F ifth A ve nue. D uring th e to u r M rs. P u sh k ar com m ented on th e unique em broideries, ceram ics, costum es, rugs, pysanky, wood- carvings, h istorical objects, th e recen tly acquired U k rainian folk a r t designs fro m Y ugosla via, and th e paintings. M r. Julian R evay, A d m in istra to r of th e UIA, pointed out in te re stin g fa c ts concerning th e m ansion and th e late M r.
