Mrs. Milligan has been associated with the UNWLA for over 40 years, especially with Mrs. Lo- totsky, and came from a sick bed to be at the Museum opening. The president of the N. Y. UNWLA Regional Council, Mrs. Oksana Rak, presented flowers to Mrs. Pushkar, Mr. and Mrs. Dzus, Mrs. Myroslava Hordyn- sky, Museum art director who arranged the objects in such an artistic and unique fashion, and to Mrs. Ivanna Petriwsky for her cooperation in the project. Unable to be present were Mr. Julian Revay, UIA Administra tor, who had suffered an acci dent, Mrs. A. Kochan, Museum Board member, and Mrs. Kath erine Peleshok who had worked on the Museum preparations. A demonstration of pysanka painting was conducted during the afternoon by Miss Oksana Wikul, noted egg decorator. Refreshments were served to the guests as they completed the Museum tour. UNWLA BRANCH 72 REPORT A new administration began with the election of Rosalie C. Polche as President of UNWLA Branch 72 at its Annual Meet ing held on January 17, 1967, at the Ukrainian Institute of Amer ica. Elected to serve with her were: Olga S. Liteplo, Vice-Pres ident ; Nettie Sawicki, Recording Secretary; Sophie P. Kotyk, Cor responding Secretary; Marie Ricket, Treasurer; and Ann Re- dosh, Asst. Treasurer. In recognition of her past achievements and services to Branch 72, the Retiring Presi dent Mary Lesawyer was pre sented with a charm by her suc cessor Rosalie Polche on behalf of the membership. Various programmed activi ties during the current year will be initiated by the following Committee Chairmen: Mary Dushnyck, Headquarters Repre sentative; Ann Bezko, Organi zational; Mary Kosciw, Cultur al and Educational; Sophie Fe- dorow, Program; Mary Tollock, Ways & Means; Stella Buska, W elfare; Mary E. Pressey and Catherine A. Sharabura, Eng lish Press; Helen Prociuk, Ukrainian Press; Irene Czarnec- ky, Public Relations; Tessie Husiak, Historian; Mary Meleta, Social; Mary Sass, Hospitality; Mae Demey, Mary Koval, and Olga Zurawel, Auditors ; Kather ine Lucyshyn and Olga M. Litep lo, Alternates. Spearheading the calendar of events was the very moving pro gram honoring Ukraine’s Poet Laureate Taras Shevchenko, presented by the Cultural and Educational Chairman, Anna Kosciw, at the Institute on Wednesday, March 8, 1967. Fol lowing a resume of his life, pas sages from his famed “Kobzar” were recited. The program con cluded with the singing of the well-known “Zapovit.” Branch 72 is resolute in its own desire to absorb all cultures and yet not to forget its own. Since its founding five years ago, Branch 72 has enjoyed a full roster of activity. A Fifth Anniversary Dinner-Dance will mark the Branch Jubilee at the Hotel Statler-Hilton (Sky top Ballroom), 33rd Street, May 27th, 1967 at 7 :30 p.m. Music will be furnished by the popular Johnny Gay Orchestra. The Dinner-Dance Committee in cludes Theodora Pifko, Chair man ; Ann Bezko, Co-chairman; Stella Buska, Ticket Chairman; and Maria 0. Kindzerske, Raffle Chairman. Proceeds from this charity event have been desig nated to go towards the Joseph Cardinal Slipyj Fund, the Uk rainian Institute of America Scholarship Fund, and the UNWLA Scholarship Fund. R. C. P. CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D. C. On Feb. 1, 1967, Mrs. Stefa- nia Pushkar, UNWLA Presi dent, visited the Headquarters of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in Washington, D. C. She was received by Mrs. L. D. Pearce, the President of GFWC. In the course of the meeting UNWLA membership in the GFWC was discussed and a form of affiliated membership agreed upon.
