DEPARTMENT OF REMINDERS If your Branch has not al ready mailed to Headquarters a check for dues to the World Fe deration of Ukrainian Women, please do so immediately. The assessment is fifteen cents per member. Fifteen cents per mem ber is a small item, but it am ounts to a lar^e figure when the assessment from each member in all Branches is added togeth er. Did you know that the Uk rainian Nat’l Women’s League has over three thousand mem bers ? From now until November 11 there will be reminders of our convention to be held at the Hotel Adelpihia. Has- your Branch included the sending of delegates to Philadelphia in the budget? Remember, this is the Convention where the Junior League will prove its strength! Separate sessions for the Junior League are being planned. If you have any ideas on subjects you would like to be discussed please contact ypur editor. The project of publishing the works of Lessya, Ukrainka for our 25th Jubilee must meet with success. Remember, we want to keep the publishing of this book strictly within our family. Do your share so that we can all experience equal pride when we see that beautifully bound book on the bookshelves in Ukrainian and American homes. Start thinking now of ways and means to raise money. Remember, we must gather $4,000 by Aug ust. BRANCH 52 WINS AWARD A certificate of merit was presented to Stephanie Wochok representing the Ukrainian Jr. League of Philadelphia, Branch 52 by Ellis A. Gimbel for the best dressed doll of the doll project which was sponsored by the Juniors of the Philadelphia Federation of Women’s Clubs and • Allied Organizations. The doll, which was dressed in a Uk rainian costume by the Junior League, will be auctioned for the benefit of the Welfare Fund. A photograph of the doll with members of the Federation ap peared in the- Philadelphia Sun day Bulletin. UYLNA APPOINTS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY During a two day session of the executive board of the Uk rainian Youth’s League of No. America held in Pittsburgh in January, Michael Wichorek of Detroit, Mich., was appointed to the post of executive secre tary. Mr. Wichorek who is gra duate of Wayne University with B.A., B., and M.SS. degrees, will assume his new position as of the first of February. Well qualified as well as highly re spected in and out of Ukrainian circles, Mr. Wichorek’s work will be mainly to coordinate, or ganize and help with the League’s publications, The Trend and The Bulletin. The incorporation of the UYL NA by two Ukrainian attorneys of Youngstown, Pete Gulick and Michael Kosach, was- also announced by the League’s pres ident, Eugene Woloshyn, at the Pittsburgh meeting. From all indications, the UY- LJSTA is progressing rapidly. LATEST NEWS FROM BRANCH 60 With the recollections of last year’s membership drive, mem bers of Branch 60 of Cleveland launched their new campaign by electing'1 Rosei Alice Kolodiy dhairman of the .membership drive committee, Last year the girls sent out formal invitations to a selected group of girls for their mem bership tea. Corsages were giv en to guests w'ho were enter tained like royalty in a back ground made as hospitable and nice as possible. The member ship tea was such a success that the girls are going to employ the same tactics this year to in trigue. Both the Jr. League of Akron and Cleveland are cooperating once again in the Pre-Conven tion Dance of the Ukrainian Youth League of Ohio. This will again afford the opportun ity for splendid unity between the two groups. Always trying something dif ferent, the January meeting of the Cleveland л--' League ,was held at Chef Hectors. The girls turned out en masse to discuss the latest business on hand over dinner in a secluded room at Ghef Hectors. Музей іпрсвадить л. Розиіна Драгаін, референтна -мистецтва і музею Союзу. На . листі жертводавців, поміщеній ■в „Укр. Голосі” п. Драган ви числила також подаровані ре чі. Цікаво довідатися як б‘а- гато /цінних та оригінальних предметів можна було призібі- рати в Канаді. Все це частини народного вбрання, що їх при везли перші переселенці, 50 літ тому. Найбільше їх похо дить з Буковини (Брідок, Ві кно, Онут), але численні та кож дари переселенців із По ділля (Теоебовельщина. Гуся- тиніщина, Борщівщина). В тих околицях уже давно зникла народна ноша і таких давніх зразків там на/п.е’вне" шке-не'має. Окремо подала п. Драіган •предмети, зібрані (для муїзею вже на скитальщині. Між ними е дві іплаїхти з Полтавщини, що тепер являються вже рід кістю. Як гарно бу ло б колиб відділи схотіли ви конати яікусь більш доцільну річ! Кожен наш музей пови нен мати взірники «вишивок, у- іпорядковані за околиця-мии Чи не можна вишити й пожер твувати для музею взірник буковинських, ЯВОрІВСЬКИіХ чи сокальських узорів? Членки- няім це нетрудно виконати, бо К0:ЖНа ЗО'бОВЯіЖЙТЬСЯ вишити лише один або й кілька ©зо рів. А іцілість, уложена у ря.м- ках, або за склом, .має дуже поівчальне значення для від відувачів. Музей СУК являється тепер найповажнішою українською етнограіфічною збіркою на а- мериканоькім континеті. Збір- кова праця іде невпинно далі, а це свідчить про тривку по шану до своєї культури.
