UNWLA was founded almost 100 years ago with the goal to support Ukrainian women in the US and abroad. Throughout the decades our strength was the ability to extend a helping hand to each other locally and globally.
Since the beginning of the russian war on Ukraine in 2014, over 60 000 Ukrainian women joined military ranks to protect their homes, their loved ones and their country from russian aggression. However, the army’s standard protective gear and uniforms aren’t tailored to women’s bodies. We see this as an opportunity for our powerful, women-led community in the US to step up and help those women warriors be warm and comfortable as much as possible while fending off the enemy.
This Giving Season we are proud to announce a new campaign by UNWLA and the Ukrainian NGO Zemliachky: Keep Ukraine Warm: Support Women Soldiers.
The campaign begins November 21, 2023 and will last through the end of March, 2024.
Our goal is to raise $ 100 000 to provide much-needed winter clothing and protective gear for Ukrainian Women Soldiers.
Zemliachky (which means “woman from the same country as you are” in Ukrainian) is a Ukraine-based foundation that works to support Ukrainian Women on the frontlines. The majority of the women’s uniforms are manufactured in Kharkiv, ensuring jobs for Ukrainians during the war. President Zelensky recognized Zemliachky’s dedication and work with the President’s “Golden Heart” award.

This week, most of us will gather with families to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Let’s say grace and show appreciation to the women whose festive table is on the frontlines, far from their loved ones, by helping them stay warm and safe.
