UNWLA is proud to have sponsored the 2025 Translating Ukraine Summer Institute, held July 7–18 at the Ossolineum in Wrocław, Poland. This international program brings together translators, scholars, and educators committed to elevating Ukrainian voices in the global cultural space through high-quality literary and academic translation.
Now in its second year, the Summer Institute is a collaboration between leading institutions including the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard, the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, the Harriman Institute at Columbia University, and others. Participants engaged in intensive workshops focused on literary prose, poetry, and nonfiction, with instruction from some of the most accomplished names in the field, including Ali Kinsella, Lidia Wolanskyj, Svetlana Lavochkina, George G. Grabowicz, and Marko Stech.
Through this initiative, emerging and mid-career translators gained critical tools, mentorship, and a shared platform for promoting Ukrainian literature and scholarship worldwide. As a proud partner, UNWLA is committed to fostering global understanding of Ukraine’s culture, language, and identity—especially during a time when Ukraine’s voice is more important than ever.
