March 28, 2019 – The UNWLA will be providing financial support to two theological seminaries: the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Orthodox Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy.
According to Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Ukraine is experiencing a spiritual rebirth, especially in the East. However, there are not enough priests to fill the need. Many parishioners of the Moscow Patriarchate are moving to the newly united Ukrainian Orthodox Church where there is also a shortage of Orthodox priests.
The UNWLA chose to support these two institutions which are presently focusing on the training of future priests. They will take their spiritual mission into the eastern regions of Ukraine to encourage and facilitate a spiritual rebirth, especially in this time of war and unrest in the nation.
The Spiritual Rebirth of Ukraine Fund will help defray the costs associated with these seminarians’ studies. Financial support by the UNWLA will go toward student tuition and classroom equipment, such as projectors. All funds raised for this endeavor will be equally divided between the two institutions. More information will be found in the May 2019 issue of Our Life magazine.
Please help support this endeavor. Checks should be made out to “UNWLA” with the notation “Spiritual Rebirth of Ukraine.” Please send to UNWLA, 203 Second Ave, New York, NY 10003.
