«ЖІНОЧИЙ СВІТ» | SECTION ВУ YOUN С UKRAINIANS | FIRST CONGRESS OF THE UKRAINIAN YOUTH Great interest has been a- roused among the youth and also the older generation regard- ing the proposed Ukrainian Youth Congress, which will be held on August 16th, during Uk- rainian Week at the Chicago World's Fair. The congress committee, com- posed of various youthful groups in Chieago, organized for the pur- pose of calling this congress, as stated in our former announce- ment and appeals, has been stead- ily working in that direction. Although numerous responses have been received from groups and organizations throughout the United States and Canada, the committee, the U! Youth of , again appea to all Ukrainian groups to co- operate. The youth of Chicago has taken this great opportunity in eall- ing the first Youth's Con: for the purpose of organizing an Ukrainian Youth Association in America. We feel it to be our problem and cannot put it off any longer. We must face it now. 88 Youth cannot ing problem of The Ukrainian regard the pr the older generation light-heart- edly. It is quite evident that the older generation does not ful- ly understand the American youth of Ukrainian descent, and as a consequence, has not been altogether succesful in organiz- ing the youth. Therfore, it our problem to gather, organiz: express and exchange ideas as to how we feel about the Ukrainian problem. What stand can we take? What is our future in the social, politieat and economical world? How ean we establish a mutual understanding among the Ukrainian Youth? With that in view, we appeal a hand in this . Forget the differences, so predominating deeply embedded in the ideas of the preceding generation, be they religious, political or what not, Are we not all Ukrainians, or at least of Ukrainian descent?
