«ЖІНОЧИЙ СВІТ» 25 MISS UKRAINE Miss Marie Lubas At a beauty contest conducted in the Ukrainian Pavilion atthe Chicago World’s Fair, Miss Marie Lubas was honored with the title of “Miss Ukraine.” and chosen to reign over the festivities during Ukrainian Week. Miss Lubas, only 18 and now entering upon her last year of studies in high school, is a life- long resident of Chicago. Athletics have been her favorite hobby since early childhood and several prize- winning tokens testify to Ше honors she has achieved in that field. Dramatics also have a lure for our “Miss Ukraine.” Since the age of eleven, she has taken part in all the dramatic activities of her neighborhood, being at the same time a member of the St, Nicholas Choir of Chicago. For the last three and a half years, as a member of the famous Ukrainian Choir of Chicago under the direction of George Benetsky, she has assisted that musical organization to win different laurels. “Zinochy Svit” wishes to extend to Miss Marie Lubas its heartiest congratulations upon the occasion of her receiving the distinct honor of “Miss Ukraine” and hopes she will retain the title with the ac- cruing popularity, for some time to come.
