98 ХХ Х І I Конвенція СУА In December 2020, WFUWO reached another milestone – the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the official WFUWO representation at the United Nations in New York City. The first two WFUWO UN representatives with the Department of Public Information/NGO were both UNWLA members. Now the number of representatives in New York at UN Headquarters has expanded to 12 in 2021, ten of whom belong to UNWLA or our sister organization in Canada, UWAC . The three WFUWO representatives at the UN Office in Geneva are members of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of France. Ukrainian World Congress The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is an umbrella organization that coordinates and represents Ukrainian member organizations and Ukrainian diaspora interests of more than 20 million Ukrainians who live outside the borders of Ukraine. UNWLA belongs to the UWC through its membership in WFUWO , but also as an independent orga nization. Annually, UNWLA submits a report to be included in the consolidated UWC report. As an appointed representative of WFUWO to the UWC Board, I make every effort to participate in all scheduled Board teleconferences. In 2018, UNWLA greeted newly elec ted UWC president Paul Grod and thanked past President Evhen Czolij for his tireless representation of the organization around the world. Ukrainian Institute of America Since 2015, the UNWLA President is a member of the Ukrainian Institute of America (UI A) Advisory Board and a member of the UIA Nominating Committee for 2020 and 2021. Cooperation with UIA, with former UIA President Dr. Dan iel Sw i stel, and now with current UIA President Kathy Nalywajko, has been rewarding and has provided perspective on thi s unique Ukrainian institution in New York City that was established in 1948. Public Representation of UNWLA and Meetings with Public Figures (September 18, 2017) President and First Lady of Ukraine Petro and Maryna Poroshenko met with community leaders at The Ukrainian Museum. As 1st Vice President of The Ukrainian Museum’s Board of Directors, I was invited to greet the couple. The First Lady and I had an opportun ity to speak before the event; I was able to tell her about UNWLA projects in Ukraine and UNWLA’s first place recognition in the Charitable Ukraine competition.
