256 ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА The exhibit was on display through September 2017 at The Uk rainian Museum. Curated by artist Roman Hrab, Studio Director at Bard College, the group exhibit featured the work of seven contemporary artists. Roman also presented at one of our meetings as part of the “Sons and Daughters Initiative.” In October 2018, Branch 113 and The Ukrainian Museum cosponsored a concert and film Ukrainian Rhapsody . The film by celebrated pianist Natalya Pasichyka is a documentary journey into Ukrainian classical music. After the screening, Ms. Pasichyka played works by several composers featured in the film. After the concert, Branch 113 prepared and hosted a sumptuous reception. In April 2019, Branch 113 hosted t he reception for the opening of the “KOLO” exhibit, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the struggle for Ukraine’s independence. In December 2019, Lesia Rakowska, our Student Scholarship Chair, started a scholarship fund inspired by the success o f one of our scholarship students, Oleksandr Shtilholz, from Zhytomyr. Lesia’s letters of encouragement and praise, along with our financial support, culminated in an award for Oleksandr from the European Heritage Contest. He was named “Ambassador of Ukrai ne” for his presentation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage and was able to have his book A Free Bird in a Poet’s Soul published. Lesia wrote an article about Oleksandr and his outstanding achievements for the March issue of Our Life and Maryanna Hoydysh poste d this information on Facebook. The March 15, 2020, piano recital by renowned pianist Juliana Osinchuk was cancelled due to COVID - 19 restrictions. Among our oldest traditions, Branch 113 is proud to have participated in the St. George Ukrainian Festival on 7th Street each year since 1986. With proceeds from sales of items donated by our members each year, we were able to support many UNWLA missions including the Spiritual Rebirth of Ukraine, Alla Horska’s Album, Feeding the Hungry and Flood Relief in Ukrain e. Our branch and its individual members support students through our UNWLA Scholarship Program. Above all, UNWLA Branch 113 actively supports The Ukrainian Museum through personal donations, sponsoring exhibits, hosting receptions, and volunteerism. To date, through branch and individual - member contributions we have donated more than $50,000 to The Ukrainian Museum.
