246 ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА “Embroidery of Ukraine” exhibit _________ ____ _____________ Five B ranch 98 members volunteered with the scholarship program at the start of 2017. With the departure of Mildred O. Jacus , who move d to Arizona in 2020, currently four members volunteer. Through scholarship renewals, donations and Branch 98 fundraising, $60,945 was credited to the efforts of our branch volunteers for the years 2017 through 2020. Of the $60,945 raised fo r scholarships, $4,580 came directly from Branch 98 and covered stipends for two students in Ukraine and one student in Brazil. The branch held three Christmas Party fundraisers with proceeds dedicated to the Babusi F und. With no Christmas Party fundraiser possible in 2020, the branch raised $4,200 for the Babusi F und through a letter - writing campaign. In 2017, Halyna Jakubowycz’s 80 th b irthday fundraiser for her husband rais ed $3,860 for the War Victim’s F und and $160 for the scholarship program. Medical s upplies donated by Halyna Lojko’s sister - in - law and valued at $4,078 were sent to the military hospital in Lviv. The branch c ontributed to the Sea of Azov effort (2019) , Feeding the Hungry, UNWLA for USA project (2020) and the Flooding Project in Ukraine a ppeal for d onations (2020) . Petrykivka Master Class ______________________________ Branch 98 supports other branches in the region by participating in efforts and attending events sponsored by these branches. We sell baked goods at the annual festival for the Ukrainian Cultural Center Whippany, NJ . Branch members bought 2017 convention raffle books and procured four greetings for the 2021 convention book. Three Branch 98 members of the branch ar e on the New Jersey Regional Council and two are on the UNWLA National Board. Since January 2017 , we have added 13 new members. Our youngest member is 23 years - old and our oldest is 84. With new members came new ideas and access to new technologies, inclu ding expanding our online efforts . We now have Facebook and Instagram pages, a teleconference bridge, a Google document repository, and in 2020, we added WebEx and Zoom . We are also the proud owners of not one , but two , UNWLA Branch 98 banners. The branch has been revitalized with the new membership and betwee n the new and long - term members, w e have a core group of women who are willing t o work to accomplish the goals w e have set for ourselves. Members of Branch 98 extend best wishes for a successful XXXII UNWLA convention, fruitful deliberations, and election of officers.
