During the past three years, Branch 50 has focused efforts on various fundraising events to promote scholarships in Ukra ine, Brazil, and at home, as well as support a number of social welfare projects. We strive to be creative about our fundraising events that have included a Fulbright lecture about Ukra ine, as well as selling wreaths ( вінки ) and greeting cards with Ukrainian themes and appare l with Ukrainian emblems. Funds raised have gone to the UNWLA Ukrainian Scholarship Fund , but also for scholarships given to students at tending the University of Michigan who are writing research papers on topics about Ukraine. In general, these stipends pa y for their travel to Ukraine during the summ er. We have an active cultural program where we invite those students, as well as others studying Ukraine, to make a presentation to our group on their research. Our social welfare funds have covered both UNW LA - sponsored projects such as “Adopt a Family of a Slain Ukrainian Soldier” and Instituto Santa Olga in Prudentopolis, Brazil, as well as specific projects such as the Romny Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children in Ukraine; United Help Ukraine for Ir pin Hospital; and Hromada for Anhelyk , a program that provides Christmas aid to children who have lost a parent to the war in the regions of eastern Ukraine. In commemoration of our 50th Anniversary, BRANCH 50 Ann Arbor, Michigan Congratulates UNWLA on their 95 th Anniversary!
