200 ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА UNWLA BRANCH 34, COHOES, NEW YORK CENTRAL NEW YORK REGION AL COUNCIL UNWLA Branch 34 members at the annual Ukrainian Day Festival. UNWLA Branch 34, Cohoes, N ew Y ork was established in 1930 by Mrs . Lotot s k y and this is our 91 st year of service to our community . Many of our members have come and gone – all were wonderful and hardworking , generous women . Вічна Їм Пам ’ ять! Our branch now has 19 members. T he eldest is Ulyana Omechinska, 93 years old, who has been a member for 70 years. He r daughter Halyna Logan is vice president. Irene Halibej has been a member for 65 years , and her daughter Oksana Ciupka, who is the current branch president, has been a member for 40 years. Maria Maciuk has been a member for 61 years and is our longest run ning past president. Her daughters Christine Kyfor and Halya Hebert are active members of our branch. Quite a few of our members are from the same family, mothers and daughters, and their grandmothers were original members of our branch. Our monthly meeti ngs are held after Sunday Mass in the church hall of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Cath olic Church . At th e beginning of each meeting, we greet each other with coffee and delicious baked sweets. W e have a tradition of preparing holiday meals for the church congregation : Easter, Mothers Day and Fathers Day , Yalynka, as well as participating in cultural activit ies, such as the Ukrainian Day Festival , concerts, and theater productions. Several of our members teach at the local Ukrainian school . The memb ers of our branch all do their best to promote Ukrainian culture and to remain active in our Ukrainian community.
