ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА 151 ROMANA LABROSSE EDITOR - IN - CHIEF, Наше Життя / Our Life I joined the editorial team of Наше Життя / Our Life as editor - in - chief and English - language editor in late 2020, during a particularly exciting time for the magazine. Under the leadership of Nadia Nynka, 3rd VP – Public Relations and a member of the magazine’s editorial board, the publication had just comp leted a dramatic transformation: beginning with the September 2020 issue, a new, more contemporary design was introduced, with greater emphasis on photos and graphic elements, and the magazine was being printed on higher - quality paper than previously. Sinc e September, Custom Design and Print, Inc., the company that developed the new design, has completed the layout of each issue in its Ternopil, Ukraine, office, and then printed the magazine out of its facility in Toronto, Canada. Nadia Nynka deserves a hu ge thank - you for her work on Наше Життя / Our Life. She not only led the re - design of the magazine but also managed the production of the first two issues (September and October) during the transition phase after the August departure of the former English - language editor, Tamara Stadnychenko - Cornelison, and until I came on board to edit the Holodomor - themed November issue. Nadia also mentored me for several weeks, patiently answering my never - ending questions and providing insight into the history, role, an d functioning of the magazine – information about which many Soyuzianky , like me, are typically unaware. I am equally grateful to Marianna Zajac, Natalia Pawlenko, and the other members of the Наше Життя / Our Life editorial board – Sophia Hewryk, Oka Hryc ak, Anna Krawczuk, Oksana Lodziuk Krywulych – for their invaluable support, guidance, and collaboration these past several months. They welcomed me warmly to the “team” and have always been available to me, no matter the request. Every issue of the mag azine is enriched by the contributions we receive from our members and collaborators. I am blessed to be working with so many engaged and talented contributors, and I look forward to getting to know them better and working with them more extensively in the months and years ahead. With each issue, our goal is to fulfill the mission of Наше Життя / Our Life – to report on the scope and impact of our organization’s work, celebrate the achievements of our members and of accomplished Ukrainian women worldwide, and share Ukraine’s rich culture and fascinating history – and to do so while representing and engagin g all our readers, whether younger or older, born in the U.S. or in Ukraine, native Ukrainian - language speakers or not. We are grateful for all suggestions for improvement, particularly those received in response to the late - 2019 survey, and have already a cted upon several recommendations, as we reported in the February 2021 issue. A follow - up survey is planned for early 2022 to review our progress. In the meantime, my team and I, with the support of the editorial board, will continue to work on optimizing the format and content of the magazine for all our members, and will look forward to your ongoing and invaluable collaboration, engagement, and feedback.
