ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА 149 NATALIA PAWLENKO CHAIR, ARTS AND MUSEUM COMMITTEE I was honored to have been elected to the position of UNWLA Arts and Museum Chair in 2017. Shortly thereafter, I outlined a strategic plan for the next three years. Priorities included: Creating a UNWLA Arts and Museum Advisory Committee An Arts and Museum Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) c omposed of UNWLA members , as well as several women active in t he Ukrainian American arts community , was established in early 2018. After a number of virtual meetings, the Advisory Committee recommend ed that the UNWLA create a Ukrainian American Artist Directory. The goal was to create a searchable national directory of the many talented and varied Ukrainian American arti sts. Among the Directory listings are professional and commercial artists, as well as hobbyists. Launched in early 2020, the Directory currently lists more than 60 entries reflecting a broad spectrum of Ukrainian American artists . The Directory continues to grow , and will be avai lable to the public on the UNWLA website in summer 2021. _ ____________________________________ UNWLA Ukrainian American Artist Directory flyer Prepare information/instructional circulars Based on a very successful series of vyshyvanky exhibits (organized by Branch 98 in Middle town/Holmdel, NJ), a “how to” article was published in Our Life that contained references to resources and suggestions on how to stage various types of vyshyvanka - related exhibits. Encourage sponsorship of mast er classes in Ukrainian folk art In the summer of 2019, my family invited the internationally - renown Petrykivka m aster Ha lyna Nazarenko to visit the United States from Ukraine. In addition to conducting several master classes in Petrykivka folk art at The Ukrainian Museum (TUM), she also conducted Petrykivka master classes with UNWLA branches in Ker hon kson, NY, Bethlehem, PA, Middle town/Holmdel, NJ, Philadelphia, PA , and Washington DC. ____ ____________________________________ Standing in the back, f rom left: Natalia Pawlenko, Halyna Nazar enko (at head of table), Hanya Krill, Marika Shust during a Petrykivka master class at The Ukrainian Museum .
