ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА 125 VERA N. KUSHNIR FINANCIAL SECRETARY During my term (May 2017 - June 2021) as UNWLA Financial Secretary, I was responsible for, and accomplished, the following: • on a regular basis, corresponded with the presidents of UNWLA Regional Councils and branches regarding financial matters ; • prepared and sent notices to branches regarding their financial obligation to the National Board; • reviewed branch financial records; • at UNWLA Executive Committee and National Board meetings, reported on the financial status and progress of branch payments; • maintained communication with individual UNWLA members regarding financial and organizational matters; • for branches and Regional Councils, prepared circulars regarding financial reporting, the filing of annual taxes (IRS e - postcard); • filed corrections, additions, and changes to the annual IRS register report regarding Federal ID numbers of all UNWLA branches and Regional Councils; • filed EIN applications for new branches; • prepared preliminary budgets for UNWLA headquarters and Our Life for review at annual National Board meetings; • prepared IRS Form 1023 for reinstatement of not - for - profit status for select branches; • was appointed XXXII Convention liaison; • researched, negotiated, and secured XXXII Convention venue in King of Prussia, PA • prepared all operating documents necessary for the XXXII Convention Committee; • traveled to Philadelphia to review the convention facilities and meet with members of the convention committee for orientation and planning; • due to COVID restrictions, researched and facilitated the planning of/support for a virtual XXXII Convention; • represented the UNWLA Executive Committee at meetings of branches, Regional Councils; • prepared travel and meeting accommodations for all annual N ational Board meetings; • attended all Executive Committee meetings, conference calls and Zoom meetings; • when requested, supported the UNWLA President. I have been a proud member of UNWLA since 1978, and have been mentored by many great women, among them my mother, 2002 UNWLA Почесна Членка, the late Theodosia Matkiwsky Kushnir. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as an officer on the UNWLA Executive Committee for the past 15 years, seven of which were in the position of Financial Secretary. My tenure was a very enriching and humbling life experience, one that I would not have received anywhere else but with the UNWLA. I wish the new, incoming officers of the Executive Committee and the National Board much success in their endeavors. May they experience the same joy and feel the same gratitude as those who have benefited for 95 years from the incredible work of the UNWLA. Choosing to b elong to, and work with, the UNWLA is truly a commitment of which to be proud! ___________________________________
