ХХ Х II Конвенція СУА 101 (March 29 - 31, 2019) - Soyuzivka Heritage Center, Kerhonkson, New York . The goal s for this meeting of the National Board w ere to update and share information, and to provid e an orientation for new Regional Council presidents. Term limits had been approved by the 2017 Convention: no more than two consecutive two - year terms. Regional council elections were held in the first quarter of 2017 . D ue to the new term limits, almost all presidents of Regional Councils were new to their positions. This meeting focused on a review of responsibilities of the position of Regional Council p resident, as well as other key positions in the Regional Council. Also discussed were UNWLA plans and objectives. These included modernizing Our Life magazine and establishing standards for the correct use of our logo on various print and digital materials . Both of these last two goals have been accomplished. (April 4 2020 ) – WebEx. T his first online meeting of our 23 attending National Board members was not without challenge as we adjusted to managing a large meeting electronically. Fortunately, we were able to connect and discuss pressing issues: the ongoing deficit of Our Life magaz ine, details of new Social Welfare project guidelines , and proposed dates of the XXXII UNWLA Convention. Due to COVID restrictions, the original convention date in 2020 was cancelled and the convention postponed until June 5, 2021. ( October 10 2020) – Zo om. During this online meeting, the National Board reviewed annual reports, 2019 financials, as well as approved 2021 budgets. Virtual convention plans were discussed, and convention book options were debated. (March 14, 2021) – Zoom. A special meeting was organized to discuss convention registration details, pre - convention roundtable proposals and, most importantly, the acceptance of the proposed amendments to UNWLA Bylaws in order to send them to branch president two months prior to the convention (as mandated by the current bylaws). We also had an important discussion about the pandemic challenges felt by our branches and Regional Councils. The next and final meeting of this National Board will be held immediately before the XXXII Conve ntion. With Deep Thanks and Gratitude ... We, S oyuzianky, are ALL volunteers! O ur accomplishments and our successes are never due to the efforts of just one individual. Our mutual success is rooted not only in the moments when each one of us fulfills her res ponsibilities , but also in those moments when we help “pick up the slack” for a sister S oyuzianka in her time of need . In those moments, we build the network, the bond, and the path that sustains us . Please allow me to thank each of the current members of the UNWLA Executive Committee, women with whom I have had the pleasure to work with closely and who have remained dedicated to our mission and cause throughout the pandemic , who have reached out gener ously to our members during these difficult times. The Executive Committee is responsible for the day - to - day activities of our organization – and UNWLA ’s daily activities are filled with challenges , but also filled with great satisfaction. UNWLA is a vibra nt organization that requires vibrant leadership that we are so fortunate to have! Lydia Jachnycky – 1 st Vice President – Lida i s always ready to listen and to provide sound advice , graciously and effectively represent s UNWLA.
