ХХХI Конвенція СУА 95 ROMA SHUHAN FIRST VICE PRESIDENT OF UNWLA During this reporting period, my duty as the First Vice President was to assist in fulfilling the directives of the President of the UNWLA. I worked closely with President Marianna Zajac and tried to help her wherever possible with any issues facing our organization. My responsibilities and duties during this period were both interesting and varied: • As First VP, I informed members of the Executive Board about the monthly meetings that took place either in our office or via telephone. • I took part in the monthly Executive Board and annual National Board meetings of the UNWLA. • I participated in teleconferences with Regional Council presidents on various UNWLA issues. • One of my duties was to write thank-you letters to people who made contributions to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and pledged their donations to the UNWLA, thereby supporting us financial- ly. • I also took part in quarterly teleconferences with the presidents of Branches-at-Large and their two Co- Liaisons – Orysia Zinycz and Olya Czerkas – to maintain good communication between the UNWLA Executive Board and the National Board. • In March 2015, I represented President at the annual meeting of Self-Reliance New York Federal Credit Union and read a letter of thanks for their generous contribution and support of the UNWLA. • On September 3-6, 2015, I traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, with President Marianna Zajac as the UN- WLA’s delegate to attend the Annual Meeting of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organi- zations. It was an extremely interesting conference. We met with Ukrainian women delegates from various parts of the world and had interesting discussions that included a number of proposals for stra- tegic cooperation on aiding Ukraine and its people in the face of Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine. • On October 17, 2015, I attended a banquet celebrating the UNWLA’s 90 th anniversary. The event, in the Ukrainian National Home in New York City, was well attended by many UNWLA members and guests from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. • On October18, 2015, I was at The Ukrainian Museum in New York taking part in the opening of the exhibition Ukrainian Women Artists in the Diaspora , which was generously sponsored by the UNWLA. Many of our members were able to attend the opening of this outstanding exhibition because the Na- tional Board held its annual meeting that weekend. All the works on exhibit were by members of the UNWLA. • On November 14, 2015, I travelled to Washington, DC, to take part in the inauguration and consecra- tion of the Holodomor Memorial. • On November 22, 2015, in conjunction with Dr. Marian Rubchak’s book signing at The Ukrainian Mu- seum and the UNWLA’s membership drive, I prepared and read a brief synopsis of the UNWLA’s $100,000 Endowment Fund for the Women's Studies Lectureship program and its accomplishments at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. • I represented our President at the Yalynka Lighting held December 12, 2015, by the New York Region- al Council and delivered a Christmas greeting on behalf of our organization. • In February 2016, I attended a UN session to mark the second anniversary of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. • On April 17, 2016, I attended a banquet to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Ukrainian Museum in New York, held at Tavern on the Green. • On April 26, 2016, I took part in the opening of an exhibition at the UN commemorating the 30th anni- versary of the Chernobyl nuclear tragedy. • I wrote a speech to mark the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence for the president of Branch 62 in Glen Spey, New York. • On November 6, 2016, President Marianna Zajac and I attended a Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) fundraising banquet, during which the UNWLA donated $100,000 to the Prostir Nadii Institute of Men- tal Health, which is affiliated with the UCU in Lviv, Ukraine.
