ХХХI Конвенція СУА 91 PUBLICATIONS/ FILM/ RADIO/ TV/ MUSIC December, 2015: The topic of the women participants in the Maidan demonstrations and in the Revo- lution of Dignity has been addressed in various media. “Ms. Maidan,” a documentary, features 40 interviews with Maidan activists and women who upheld the Maidan ideals during wartime in eastern Ukraine. It was produced by the Ukrainian Catholic University and supported by the UNWLA and the Women’s Studies Lec- tureship in late 2015. During our visit to Ukraine in December of 2015, we were fortunate to be present at its premiere viewing. May, 2016: “ She walked not only in the spirit of the times, but also preceded it: Nataliya Kobryns’ka and the literary process during the end of the XIX-XX centuries ” is a book which comprises a collection of academic works on Natalya Kobryns’ka and includes a forward thanking the UNWLA and UN- WLA Branch 64 for financing this timely work. The authors of the forward state that this is the first collection of its kind and that the goal is to have this important book disseminated to women’s studies programs around the world. The collection, dated 2015, is dedicated to the 160 th birthday of Nataliya Kobryns’ka and to the 90 th anniversary of the founding of the UNWLA. Our organization is proud to be a partner in this historical re- search project. August 18, 2016: Responding to an invitation to appear on Lvivska Oblasna Derzhavna Teleradikom- paniya (Lviv’s television broadcasting company), I gave an interview on the evening of August 18 and shared information about our organization and the broad scope of its projects in Ukraine and the United States . August 30, 2016: Live TV interview on “Tsentralnij Kanal”, an independent Ukrainian station, fol- lowed by an in-depth radio interview. I met with the President of “Tsentralnij”, Oleksander Savenko, a re- nowned and honored Ukrainian journalist and community activist, and had the opportunity to discuss UN- WLA’s multi-faceted work. November 6, 2016: the Music at the Ukrainian Institute (MATI) program presented the works of Women Composers from Ukraine. MATI’s artistic director, Dr Solomiya Ivakhiv, invited UNWLA to partner for this event, and our Executive Board unanimously agreed. THE UKRAINIAN MUSEUM As an exhibition in celebration of the UNWLA’s 90 th anniversary, The Ukrainian Museum held a his- toric exhibit entitled “The Ukrainian Diaspora – Women Artists, 1908-2015.” This exhibit, which opened Oc- tober 18 th , 2015, highlighted the amazing achievements and artistic contributions of these women to the art world. As the main sponsor ($25,000) of this exhibition, the UNWLA and its Board thank the President of the Museum Board of Trustees, Professor Renata Holod; the Museum’s Director, Maria Shust; the curator of the exhibition, Adrienne Kochman; every participating artist; and everyone who contributed time and effort to the realization of this historic exhibition! April 2016 featured the 40th anniversary celebration of the UNWLA’s founding and opening of The Ukrainian Museum in New York City. Approximately 200 people gathered on April 17 at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park to celebrate this anniversary. During my brief remarks as current UNWLA president, I reminisced about the UM’s humble beginnings: how its original holdings, which consisted of 600 artifacts, were purchased by the UNWLA from the Ukrainian Folk Art Cooperative in Lviv in 1933 for $2,225 and were shipped to the United States to be featured at the folk art exhibit at the Ukrainian Pavilion at the Chicago World’s Fair. It was these artifacts, protected and preserved with love by the UNWLA, that became the back- bone of the UM when it opened in 1976. It was during this very upbeat gathering that the UNWLA gifted the UM $4,000 and also became a member of the museum’s 400K Club (a designation for members who donate $1,000 per year for four years. Many of our branches choose to focus on supporting this valuable institution, for which we commend them. THANK YOU! The above is a summary of some of the projects and events in which I directly participated; however, none of these accomplishments would have been possible without the members of the UNWLA support team (in other words, the Executive Committee). We are ALL volunteers, and only when each one of us fulfills her
