ХХХI Конвенція СУА 85 NATIONAL BOARD ANNUAL MEETINGS The 2014 annual UNWLA National Board meeting was held September 19–21, 2014 at the UNA Estate at Soyuzivka in Kerhonkson, New York. Diana Derhak JD, MBA Consultant of DNA International Consultancy and Breakthrough Coach for Individuals and Teams, was invited to lead Saturday’s group discussions. These discussions allowed all Board members to freely express their views and visions, and were focused on the future mission of our organization. “Committed, enthusiastic, passionate, [and] artic- ulate” were the adjectives used by Ms. Derhak to describe the members of the newly elected UNWLA National Board. 2014 UNWLA National Board meeting – workshop with Diane Derhak The 2015 annual meeting of the National Board was held during the weekend of October 16-18 at the UNWLA headquarters in New York City. In addition to the reviewing of reports and the approval of budgets, discussions were focused on a review of our social welfare work in Ukraine and the ever- improving effectiveness of the UNWLA’s structure as a nationwide organization. A follow-up on our 2014 annual meeting led by Ms. Derhak was also evaluated. The 2016 annual meeting of the UNWLA National Board also took place at the UNA Estate (So- yuzivka) in Kerhonkson, New York, during the weekend of October 7–9. We thank the NY Federal Credit Union (Samopomich) for supporting the UNWLA NY Regional Council, allowing it to host an intensive two days of discussions, debates, spirited conversations, assessments of our ongoing programs, and planning for the future. Although the Regional Council Presidents and the Co-Liaisons for Branches at Large communicate through quarterly teleconferences, this meeting underscored that face-to-face inter- actions are much more effective. The focus of the 2016 National Board meeting was on developing a strategy to strengthen and build our membership. This strategy can potentially recruit and unite two groups of women: those from the most recent wave from Ukraine and the daughters of current UNWLA members. As noted by partici- pants, recruitment approaches may need to be adjusted. As a corollary to this, some participants noted that the same theory might apply to UNWLA projects. The Board agreed that, while continuing our aid to Ukraine, we also need to focus on our efforts to develop projects of interest here in the United States.
