84 ХХХІ Конвенція СУА September 14, , 2015: It was my and Vice President Sofika Hewryk’s pleasure to attend the Phil- adelphia Regional Council ’s annual “Den’ Soyuzanky”. This event brings together the members of the Regional Council to celebrate their branches’ accomplishments in an atmosphere of camaraderie. I had the distinct pleasure of presenting Lidia Buk of Branch 67 with a certificate confirming her induction to Honorary Membership of the UNWLA. This honor is the highest honor of our organization, and was be- stowed on her during UNWLA’s XXX Convention. October 5, 2015 : The New York Regional Council held its annual “Den’ Soyuzanky” at the Ukrainian National Home in NYC. This year’s event was unique in that it also celebrated Our Life’s 70 th anniversary. Dr. Ihor Magun, a monthly column contributor to the magazine for over 19 years, was pre- sented with a certificate of appreciation from the National Board by the Our Life editor in chief, Lydia Slysh. October 25, 2015: The UNWLA Detroit Regional Council celebrated the 90th anniversary of the organization and the 80th anniversary of the Regional Council. I had the pleasure of traveling to Michigan to share this warm and celebratory event with the Regional Council members. November 15, 2015: I had the pleasure of attending a literary afternoon held by New York Branch 64 and dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Natalia Kobryns’ka, writer and founder of the women’s movement in Ukraine. With their readings and music, the performers brought the story of this dedicated and driven woman to life. Well done! December 16, 2015 : I attended an informal gathering of Branches 56, 124 and 136 in North Port, Florida, and was able to share the latest UNWLA efforts with them and answer any questions they may have had. Since our next UNWLA Convention was planned to be held in Florida in 2017, prelimi- nary discussions on this topic took place. January 27, 2016 : I took part in a meeting with Honorary UNWLA President Anna Krawczuk and the Scholarship Program Committee in Matawan, N.J. The meeting was held after the passing of our beloved Scholarship Program Chair Maria Polanskyj; her sister, Mrs. Anna Krawczuk, graciously agreed to chair the program until the UNWLA Convention of May 2017. February 2, 2016 : Visited with Branch 56 of North Port, Florida, to share our experiences of the December 2015 trip to Ukraine. __________________________ Br. 136 Christening – Presidents of Br. #124, 17, 136 & 56 January 31, 2016: Participated in the Christening of Branch 136 in Naples, Florida. The event was well-planned and well-attended, radiating positive energy and generating many plans for the future. Congratulations to Branch 136 president Natalia Santarsiero and the branch’s 29 members! February 13, 2016: Attended the 25th An- niversary of Branch 56. A celebratory banquet highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of the larg- est branch of the UNWLA! Congratulations to Branch 56 President Ann-Marie Susla and to UNWLA Honorary Member Lidia Bilous, who served as chair of the anniversary celebration. February 28, 2016 : Attended annual meeting of the New England Regional Council , which in- cluded the newly elected Regional Council president, former UNWLA VP Ulana Zinych. We thank Glo- ria Horbaty for her many years of dedicated service to the Council. October 22, 2016 : With great pride, I attended and participated in the Christening ceremonies of Branch 137 in Whippany, New Jersey. This event was not only a christening but also a charity ball meant as a fundraiser to help partnering volunteers in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. The warm leadership of its President, Valentyna Tabaka, was clearly felt and appreciated by the members of the branch.
