It has been such a gift to have come together, on March 12, 2014, as Ukrainian sisters to promote the “Spirit of Ukraine” through our membership in the UNWLA. The spirit of our patroness, Yevhenia Yaroshynska, inspires us to work together in fulfilling the mission of this organization. We meet monthly at a clubhouse with a traditional pot luck lunch, except during July and August when many of us are up north. Being a newly formed organiza- tion in the Naples community, our mission has been to promote our culture by creating a strong presence in southwest Florida. We have done this by inviting local media to our meetings and being featured in full-page articles with beautiful photos in both the Naples Daily News and Spotlight Magazine . Our library displays of Ukrainian artifacts and pysanky have received rave reviews, and our “Spring Bling” outing with Masha Archer was great fun, and a wonderful success. Best of all was our amazing Christening gathering and ceremony on January 31, 2016. In March we planned an “Honor Our Herit- age” day at the House of Gaia, a local community center where we demonstrated the art of making pysanky and much more. We are also taking an active role in the UNWLA Scholarship Fund Program and will be sponsoring three university students. As a small but growing branch with 26 members, we look forward to building a strong Ukrainian community as more and more Ukrainians from the north in- evitably migrate to beautiful Naples, Florida.
