ХХХI Конвенція СУА 247 October In 2015 our branch held a banquet for the entire community to celebrate the UNWLA’s 90 th Anniversary. Despite the awful weather, we had good attendance as we honored all the members and non-members who have helped our branch throughout the years. We have some very valued non-members, like Marijka Zhuk, who are irreplaceable during preparations for the Easter Bazaar. We also honored all our active members with a wonderful surprise – an apron with our UNWLA logo on it. During this celebration, two local Ukrainian artists, Lydia Bodnar-Balahutrak and Juliana Tychowsky-Dankowich, spoke about their art and showed their paintings. The decorations on the wall were done by Khrystyna Balushka, a local Ukrainian artist who specializes in flower decorations crafted from paper. She kindly loaned these very beautiful and costly items for the occasion. On October 15, 2016, we held a fantastic workshop – The Art of Petrykivka Decorative Painting – given by the extremely talented Ukrainian artist Maryna Volk, who lives in Austin, Texas. The event was publicized on Facebook, and we had many non-Ukrainian participants who raved about it and asked when it would be repeated. The workshop was so well attended that we are hoping to repeat it again this year. December In 2015 and 2016 we participated in the annual Christmas Bazaar held at Pokrova Parish Hall. Our current branch board members are Chrystyna Myndiuk-Bryndzia (president), Pam Uschak (Vice President), Martha Uschak-Noukas (Treasurer), and Olha Hirka (Secretary).
