One such project, begun in 2007 and chaired by Diane Zurkiwskyj, is a Scholarship Fund that, to date, has collected and donated $2,970 to recipients Khrystyna Mykhajlyshyn and Illya Svarichevskij in Ukraine. Our members have also taken on a three-year commitment to support the Adopt a Family project in Ukraine together with two other Detroit branches. Donated funds will go to families who have lost a husband and/or father as a direct result of Russia’s invasion of Eastern Ukraine. Our branch’s distinct pride and joy is our organizational effort aimed at sponsoring an annual pysanka workshop. We are very pleased and gratified to witness this 17-year event blossom into a true generational tradition, with approximately 60 children and adults participating every year. No matter how large (Patriot Defence) or small (cookie sales), our donations are always aimed at supporting worthy Ukrainian causes. ___________________
