I work with a wonderful group of ladies. Though small in number (22), our branch gets a lot of work done. We collaborate and work with Arts Mid Hudson on various events. We work to show the sur- rounding local communities what Ukrainians are all about. In the past, we have mounted exhibits in the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall. Every year, we participate in the Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and the History Kingston Block Party – a cultural festival on the Kingston waterfront – where we showcase our Ukrainian heritage. We have asked the Tsvitka Dance Group and the Korinya folk ensemble to ap- pear at this event. We also participate in Beacon Day – One River Many Streams and again showcase our Ukrainian heritage for the American public to become aware of who we are. Another of the events that we really loved to participate in was the Ukrainian Children’s Day program at the Town of Ulster Public Library, where we interactively taught children and adults about pysanky, vyshyvanky, and how to write their names in Ukrainian. We distributed the Free Savchenko tri-fold pamphlet designed by the UNWLA to the public and took part in some Free Savchenko events within our local community.
