186 ХХХI Конвенція СУА UNWLA BRANCH 14, PATRONESS LESIA UKRAINKA, ATLANTA, GEORGIA BRANCH-AT-LARGE We celebrated our branch’s 40 th anniversary in 2016. During the past 40 years, we have endeavored to promote a better understanding of Ukrainian culture and heritage among non-Ukrainians and to maintain our own traditions with other Ukrainian groups throughout the State of Georgia. The following are highlights of our activities over the past three years: We participate every year in the Atlanta Symphony decorator “show home” fundraiser as volun- teers for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We raised awareness of Ukraine via the Georgia International Business Women’s organization. Local radio and TV stations interviewed our members while we demonstrated regarding N. Savchenko. We volunteered with churches promoting Ukrainian events and fundraisers. Members and families attended performances of the Hromovytsia Ukrainian dance ensemble in Macon in March 2014. We supported Ukrainian artist Pat Zalisko at the Muse & Co. Fine Art Gallery in Roswell in April 2014. Our members support ongoing exhibits of two Ukrainian artists in Ukraine – Olena Zvyaginstseva and Serhiy Hai. We initiated and participated in Taras Shevchenko readings at Georgia Tech in April 2014. We invited new immigrants as guests to our meetings; four new members joined. Our members made donations to Music Mission Kyiv for elderly residents of nursing homes in Kyiv. We continue to volunteer at local libraries, and we also donate books on Ukraine. We attended the Holodomor event in Washington, DC. Our members donated $320 for the Ukraine War Victims Fund. We sincerely appreciate all that is done for us by the New York office.
