140 ХХХІ Конвенція СУА OLYA DROZDOWYCZ UNWLA ARCHIVIST It has been an honor being your Archivist for the past three years. During this time, I have been in contact with various branch members and officers to help them archive branch records. When a branch is in existence for 30 to 40 years, there are many records, pictures, newspaper ar- ticles, and letters to important people that the branch may have corresponded with. There are also many items that are not archival in nature. I enjoyed getting together with the members of branches that closed and are no longer serving our organization to help sort all the boxes of papers, documents, and old pictures. It was gratifying to see the hard work these branches did. Like many branches, they built up our churches, Ukrainian schools, and dance classes through numerous fundraisers. Many of the members are no longer with us, but they are with us in memory. It was difficult for some members to throw away certain items as they had many close memories associated with these papers. As I pointed out, some items are not archival in nature and tend to clutter the history we are trying to preserve. During this time, some researchers contacted me to ask whether the UNWLA had information on the people they were researching. I was able to assist them, and I saw how important it is to review and catalog the volumes of records, to ensure that we archive only the important items. I am anxious to address the large number of boxes we have in New York, to sort and file the information to make it easier for future researchers.
