We interact with American organizations, with our elected representatives, and with foreign country representatives to promote the Ukrainian cause. Below are a few of the highlights of my term. Representing the UNWLA Executive Board at regional and branch events was always a pleasure. Our membership does so much, and attending these events shows the support of the executive and in turn gives the Executive Board a better understanding and hands-on experience. Representing the UNWLA in Ukraine and seeing in person the difference our organization makes in aiding wounded heroes, the families of the heroes, and volunteer centers, as well as in helping to establish the much-needed physical therapy, technology/laboratory, and mental health center Prostir Nadiyi, to name a few. Representing the UNWLA at political events and addressing the attendees was a privilege. I was so honored to represent our organization as an invited panelist on the US–Ukraine Forum entitled “Initiating Dialogue with the Next President of the US” at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. My panel was entitled “Sounding the Alarm for Ukraine, Europe, and Russia Campaign.” In Ukraine, it was very exciting when President Marianna Zajac and I were interviewed on TV and radio about how our organization has aided Ukraine. Summary of Activities, May 2014 – May 2017 Ads Ukrainian Independence, Christmas, and Easter greetings to our members and supporters in local Ukrainian newspapers. December 25, 2016, and January 7, 2017 – coordinated a massive ad campaign, “UNWLA – Thank you to all UNWLA supporters, donors, and dedicated members!” The ad stated that, since 2013 and the Maidan, the UNWLA had donated $1,000,000 to various venues in Ukraine. The full-page color ad ran in The Ukrainian Weekly , Svoboda , Zakordonna Gazeta , Nova Hazeta , MEEST , and the January 2017 issue of Our Life . New UNWLA Trifold January-March 2016 – chaired the committee working on a new UNWLA informational trifold. English version printed March 2016; Ukrainian version printed May 2016. Articles April 2015 – wrote an article for The Ukrainian Weekly about the meeting with Mark Feygin and Nadiya Savchenko at The Ukrainian Museum on April 20. October 2015 – article and photos in the Weekly about the UNWLA 90 th Anniversary Banquet. October 2016 – wrote a brief article for Our Life on representing the UNWLA at the US–Ukraine Foundation event in Washington, DC. January 2017 – wrote an article on my personal experience of the UNWLA’s aid to Ukraine for a book being written by Videl Suchonis (via Orysia Soroka) on the diaspora’s current aid to Ukraine. Letters/Emails Congratulatory, condolence, farewell, birthday, anniversary letters/emails sent to various dignitar- ies. UNWLA Action Items 4 pertaining to Nadiya Savchenko 3 contacting elected officials to pass legislation in favor of Ukraine UNWLA Executive Board Attended 7 Executive Board meetings; took part in 3 teleconferences. UNWLA National Board Attended 3 UNWLA National Board weekend meetings/workshops/events. Represented the UNWLA Executive Board as 4 th VP at UNWLA events 5 UNWLA NJ Region meetings.
