ХХ Х Конвенція СУА 89 Recruitment Campaign at the local branch and Regional Council levels; (2) to commence the next phase of the campaign, “Project Outreach,” by using a marketing strategy approach; and (3) to energize the drive to attract and enlist women who live in areas remote from branches by inviting them to join the UNWLA as Members - at - Large. Also, I sought to realize a resolution from the 28 th Convention — to reit- erate the important role of the regional council president to provide leadership and support to faltering branches. UNWLA Membership Recruitment and Retention National Campaign Phase II: Project Outreach Successful recruitment of new members occurs primarily at the local level. During Phase I of the Campaign (2009 - 2010), branches were provided tools to hold a successful recruitment event. A bilingual “ Recruitment Kit ” was made available in hard copy and on disk. T he contents include d the following ma- terials : A newly designed recruitment brochure “ The UNWLA: Who We Are . . . ” A step - by - step guide with suggestions and examples for planning a successful recruitment event Sample recruitment ads, letters , and a PowerPoint presentation An updated , uniform Membership Application A colored glossy 12 x 18 recrui tment poster For Phase II , a bilin- gual invitation to join the UNWLA was designed, print- ed, and personally mailed in 2012 to over 500 Ukrainian - American women. Names and addresses were solicited from branches, as well as those re- searched from articles in Ukrainian - Am erican publica- tions. Respondent names were referred to local branches to initiate contact. The primary target population was potential recruits living in remote areas. As a result, approximately 25 joined as new Members - at - Large! Approximately 447 n ew memb ers were recruited during 2011 - 2014 period : Branches - at - Large + 116 New Jersey Regional Council + 89 Ohio Regional Council + 49 New York Regional Council + 42 Philadelphia Regional Council + 40 Detroit Regional Council + 33 Chicago Regional Council + 21 Central New York Regional Council + 12 New England Regional Council + 7 Members - at - Large + 38 The New Jersey Regional Council , through the leadership of President Oxana Dats and initiative of Membership Chairwoman Olha Basarab - Ponos, successfully opened three new branches . Also, a new Branch - at - Large was recently organized in Florida.
