Competition is open to students of U.S. and Canadian universities. Stipends can be granted only to UNWLA members who joined the organization at least a full year prior to the submission of an application. Last year, the stipend was awarded to Dr. Marta Kebalo, UNWLA Member - at - Large, who is working on an English - language history of the UNWLA. I encourage all UNWLA members to submit their applications to the Eva Stashkiw Fund. I have been appointed by the UNWLA Executive Board to the Nominating Committee where my primary task is to ensure that the presidents of Regional Councils are informed about the tasks and duties of the Committee. I stayed in close contact with the Chair of the Nominating Committee who was e lected from among the presidents of the Regional Councils and Liaison for Branches - at - Large. Each member of the UNWLA Executive keeps in touch with one Regional Council to update its president on the work of the Executive Board. I was appointed to work wit h the Regional Council of Chi- cago, and in addition I keep in touch with our webmaster. We have developed good rapport and find our regular communication beneficial to our work. Finally, as Chair of the Editing Committee of the Convention Book, I have to sa y: It has been my pleasure to work with the Con- vention Book Committee, which includes: Oksana Fari- on, who masterfully handles the financial matters related to the publication of the book; Zoriana Haftko wycz, who takes care of all the computer - related tasks; Oxana Dats and Natalia Sonewycka. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of them. In addition, we are grateful to Olesia Wallo for her English - language editing, Lidia Slysh for the Ukraini- an - language editing and contributions, Iryna Koshulap for translation and Mari e Dupl ak for her skillful assistance with the publication — and her infinite patience . Maria Tomorug, UNWLA Honorary member, was kind enough to type long handwritten reports. Once again, thank you for your work. The Convention book, however, would not be what it is without the valuable reports from our members. We are grateful for your contr ibutions. I know how difficult it is to remember everything that has been done in the course of three years, but you man- aged to prepare great reports. The Committee’s work is in its final stage as I am writing these lines. We are reading through all the a rticles and reports, looking through the pictures you sent and enclosing the greetings we received. I would like to say another thank you to all those who helped me in my work over the last three years. My gratitude goes to the delegates of the XXIX Conve ntion who placed their trust in me and sup- ported my candidacy to this position. I wish the incoming Executive Board all success in their work for the good name of our beloved organization. May God Bless You! At this difficult time for Ukraine I ask all to pray for our beloved country. GOD PROTECT OUR UKRAINE! БОЖЕ ВКРАЇНУ ХРАНИ!
