ХХ Х Конвенція СУА 69 Teleconference calls were also held with the Presidents of the Region al Councils in January, June and September of 2012. On October 1, 2013, an Inter - Regional meeting (5 Regional Councils – NY, NJ, Philadelphia, CT, and Central New York) was held at headquarters. This format proved to be very effective and will be used in t he future. Visiting Regional Councils and Branches During this past three - year term, members of the Executive Committee represented us within the Regional Councils whenever possible. And, since our Executive members are scattered, this format worked well. Some of the anniversaries which I had the pleasure of personally attending and presenting certifi- cates of appreciation , supported by greetings of appreciation , were: Sept ember 11, 2011 – Branch 95, Central New York Regional Council – 20 th anniversa ry (the branch to which I belong) March 25, 2012 – Branch 30, New York Regional Council – 25 th anniversary June 9, 2013 – Philadelphia Regional Council – 75 th anniversary During the 75 th anniversary celebration at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center in Jenkintown, PA October 6, 2013 – Branch 78, Washington , D . C . – Branch - at - Large – 50 th anniversary November 9, 2013 – Branch 75 , New Jersey Regional Council – 40 th anniversary On August 27, 2011, Branch 8 and the Ohio Regional Counci l were rededicating the famous Mykhailo Chereshnovsky statue of Lesya Ukrainka, which can be found in the beautiful Cleveland Cul- tural Gardens. The formal blessing and ribbon cutting was a lovely ceremony, with clergy and Mayor of Cleveland and Congressman Dennis Kucinich in attendance. As the keynote speaker at this event, I was able to share the original history of Branch 30’s focus and determinatio n to complete this majestic monument fifty years ago, and expressed my thanks and praise for the dedication of Branch 8 to restoring the luster and magnificent beauty of the monument. Another event which I attended and which warrants mention was held on Ap ril 14, 2013. It was Den’ Soyuzianky organized by the New Jersey Regional Council. The event was held at the Cultural Cen- ter in Whippany, NJ, to a packed house. It was a family event, for parents with young children, members of the UNWLA, and guests. The a tmosphere was welcoming and warm, and the Regional Council mem- bers did an outstanding job of presenting what the UNWLA is and what it does. The presenters effectively communicated what it means to belong to an organization with such varied projects and one which sup- ports all aspects of community life.
