264 ХХ Х Конвенція СУА traveled around St. Petersburg and its vicinity to carol and bring the spirit of the Christmas season to families, friends, and the elderly in the nursing homes. We frequently hear additional voices joining in while we carol. In each nursing home, we hear “One more carol, please,” and with pleasure, we sing an- other carol. Indeed, we bring the nursing home patients the gift of carols, and in return, they give us smiles and immeasurable gifts of thanks. Since November 2013, there has been much unrest in Ukraine. Our branch strongly believed that we, as Ukrainians in the United States, needed to support those who were taking a stand for freedom and democracy. Thus, Branch 124 organized a collection for humanitarian aid and showed our support by forwarding these generous donations to Ukraine through the UNWLA. We have also organized con - ferences with television reporters about our concerns and the need to support Ukraine. Our branch members are dedicated to the success of the UNWLA and Branch 124. We hold meetings once a month and occasionally hold events between meetings. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Secretary, Karen Klos, and our Archivist, Maria Brown, we maintain accurate records of our branch activ ities. With the help of Irene Telepko, we initiated a webpage where individuals can visit to obtain information about past and upcoming events: http://epiphanyukrch.com/unwla124.html?mode=preview . The audit committee is hard at work. L - r: Marian Serna, Ola Movchan Novak, and Vera Swade. To end the year of 2013, we celebrated our many accomplishments, as is our tradition, by going to a Christmas dinner and enjoying each other’s company. We had a gift exchange, ate a great meal, talked for hours, and decided that these past years have been very productive. We learned much from one another and made many good memories along the way. Members of UNWLA Branch 124 celebrate Christmas Dinner together in December of 2013. Many of our members live in St. Petersburg; however, there are many who travel long distances. Our members, those living near and far, participate as often as they can, take an active role in our events, and offer their support when needed. Their commitmen t and dedication is evident. We greatly appreciate our members and our community. UNWLA Branch 124 of St. Petersburg, Florida, extends the warmest greeting s to our National Board, UNWLA Branche s, and to our Members - at - Large. May you continue to perpetuat e the love of our herit age! We wish all of our UNWLA Sisters the very best in the coming years. Olya N. Czerkas
