ХХ Х Конвенція СУА 245 Much of 2013 was devoted to the planning for our branch’s 25th anniversary celebration. The fundraising event was held on October 27th at the Sisterhood Hall of St. Andrew’s Memorial Church in South Bound Broo k, NJ. President Mischenko opened the program and intro- duced Luba Bilowchtchuk who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. An opening prayer and a brief Branch 98 history were read by Anna Krawczuk. On behalf of the UNWLA National President Marianna Zajac, New Jersey Regional Council president Oksana Dats presented a certificate from the UNWLA National Board. She also awarded one from the New Jersey Regional Council. UNWLA National Schol- arship Chair Maria Po lanskyj recognized UNWLA Scholarship Com- mittee members and volunteers from the branch. ________________________________ L - r: President Mischenko and New Jersey Regional Council President Oksana Dats . The program included a luncheon, a sing - along, Sweepstakes prizes, and a Tricky Tray auction. Harpist Odarka Stockert Polanskyj, who also became a new member of Branch 98, provided the musical entertainment. Over 50 guests attended on a beautiful autumn a fternoon. Sixteen lovely gift baskets were won, along with five Sweepstakes prizes. The grand prize of an Apple iPad was donated by Meest - America Inc., Elizabeth, NJ. Profits from the event enabled the branch to continue its ongoing work. Earlier in Oct ober the branch sent a letter of congratulations to member Natalie Pawlenko. Ms. Pawlenko, director of the Office of Local Public Health for the New Jersey Department of Health, was honored at a White House reception on September 10th for her work in impro ving the public health re- porting system in New Jersey. An article in The Ukrainian Weekly on September 27th provided details of this honor. The year also included our annual picnic at the home of M. Orysia and Jurij Jacus, and gift - wrapping at a local Bar nes & Noble.
