Th e past three years have been busy for Branch 98 but all of our activities have continued to be in support of the goals and objectives of the UNWLA. The highlight of 2011 was, of course, the XXIX UNWLA Convention held here, in New Jersey, in May. Branch P resident, Victoria Mischenko, and Treasurer, M. Orysia Jacus, served as delegates. President Mischenko had the honor of carrying the flag for the NJ delegation at the opening ceremony. Member Maria Polanskyj, National Scholarship Chair, was one of the feat ured presenters. As Exhibits Chair, President Mischenko created a poster honoring the 25th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster that was donated to the Social Welfare Chair, Iryna Rudyk. She also contributed a poster of our Branch Pa- troness, St. Olga, to become part of the NJ branches ’ exhibits dedicated to their patronesses. Our branch also submitted a proposed amendment to the bylaws, suggesting a name change in English only: from Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) to “Union of Ukraini an Women in Ameri- ca.” The amendment did not pass.
