Hrynewycz, N. Mycyk, M. Charysh. As we approach the XXX UNWLA Convention , Branch 85 of the Chicago Regional Council boasts 35 members with unique and diverse backgrounds, professions, interests, and life experience s. Among our members are physicians, engineers, accountants, teachers, attorneys, nurses, and other profes- sionals who contribute their ideas, time and efforts in the furtherance of common ideals. Since our incep- tion in 1989, with 14 members, branch members have been working together to support the goals of the UNWLA. These shared aims and goals continue to guide our branch endeavors. Our membership has steadily grown, with 32 members in 2010 and 36 members in 2012. Under the energetic and able leader- ship o f our current Co - Presidents Anna Powers, Donna Pylypczak, and Tania Janos, we have had several extremely eventful years, filled with a wide variety of interesting and unique activities. In addition to holding quarterly meetings, Branch 85 members particip ated in various cultural, philanthropic, and social events. Since 1991 the branch has been responsible for organizing and running Sadok Vyshnevyj , which is held four days per week for pre - schoolers aged 3 to 5. Our most recent Educa- tion Chairs, Lesia Bara nyk and Lida Bunting, have done a wonderful job of keeping the Sadochok a via- ble entity in the Ukrainian community of Chicago. Last year, our beloved teacher, Maria Baran, celebrat- ed her 25th anniversary with the Sadochok , at which time she was presented with a commemorative plaque and gift from Branch 85. Every year, on a Sunday afternoon in October, our branch sponsors a Maskarada featuring games, music, a costume parade, face - painting, and refreshments for the young children of the community and their f amilies. It is truly a family event, with many siblings, grandparents, aunts , and uncles enjoying the fun. November is always a busy month for our members. In our quest to support UNWLA initiatives, we invited a speaker to the November 2012 meeting, who, with her slide show presentation and narrative,
