For the past 3 years Helen Bak Palmer was Branch President, Ola Movchan Novak was Vice - President, Luba LePage was Recording Secretary, Lesia Florchuk was Correspondence Secretary, and Maria Mykolenko was Organizational Chair. Membership diminished from 23 to 20 members. Generally, we have nine meetings a year with a tenth during a Branch 53 special event year. Each month we have a member host the meeting with snacks and beverages either at the Domivka or in her home. A speaker, a video, or a topic is assigned to each meeting. On average, 9 - 13 members attend. Over these years our speakers have included representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, a National Board Parlia - m entarian Oksana Xenos, Vera Andrushkiw from the U.S. - Ukraine Foundation, a community pyrogra- pher, Ulana Kushnir , who presented a slide show with commentary on her personal Chornobyl experienc- es, and Donna Voronovich who presented professional architectural slides with commentary on her visit to L’viv and Kyiv for the 100th Anniversary of Plast . One of our meetings featured a local Ukrainian po- etry recitation dedicated to a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Videos that we have viewed and discussed included The Three St ories of Galicia , Holodomor – Ukraine’s Genocide , The Parish Priest of Majdanek , Genocide Revealed , Pysanka, the Ukrainian Easter Egg , and Tour the Danube River . In 2011 the Detroit Regional Council celebrated its 75th anniversary with a banquet at the Ukrai nian Cultural Center, a program, and the printing of an anniversary book, The History of the Detroit Regional Council . Members of Branch 53 did some editing on the book prior to publication, participated on the decorating committee, collected tickets at th e door, and took charge of the anniversary book distri- bution. With President Marianna Zajac as guest speaker at the banquet, we cooperated with Branch 115 to organize an afterglow at the Domivka . This same year Branch 53 participated in Den’ Soyuzianky on July 17 at Dibrova Estates, manning the cash box and the raffle. Dibrova was also the site for our Branch’s first fundraising raffle of baskets on August 14, 2011, as part of the Ukrainian Federal Self - Reliance Credit Union picnic. In addition, in 2011 Branch 53 assembled a display of Ukrainian em broidery and ceramics at the Warren Community Center. 2012 was noteworthy as the Detroit Regional Council celebrated the 25th anniversary of our Domivka , in which Branch 53 participated and at which our membe r, Chrystyna Panasiuk, received recognition. In 2012 and 2013, we continued to assemble baskets and hold fundraising raffles at Dibrova. However, in October 2013 we celebrated our 40th anniversary with our Ruby Red Fundraising Fashion
