ХХ Х Конвенція СУА 171 Celebration . Together with other Ukrainian organizations , t hey annually commemorate the Ukrainian In- dependence and the Holodomor and particip ate in the Memorial Day Parade. They particularly enjoy singing and caroling ( koliada ). UNWLA Branch 106 has 16 members and includes membership from the Greater Hartford area. The branch is headed by President Halyna Shulewsky. They meet at the Uk rainian National Home in Hartford. The group annually organizes an Easter holiday bake sale, a Christmas bazaar , and a Communi- ty Christmas Eve “Ve cheria.” They donate regularly to t he Ukrainian Museum and Our Life , and have raised funds for the Women’s Stu dies Lectureship at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L’viv . They also support a Ukrainian orphanage in Sambir, Ukraine. Branch 108 has 25 members and includes the communities surrounding Greater New Haven. Monthly meetings are rotate d between member s ’ homes and St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Haven. Anna Salemme serves as President of the branch. We are honored to have the UNWLA 1st Vice President Ulana Zinych as an active member of the branch. The branch runs a Saturday s vitlychka ; hol ds pysanka lectures, demonstrations and workshops; runs an annual Chil dren’s Christmas Craft Work- shop; participates in cultural exhibits at universities, libraries, and schools; and participates with other organizations in multi - cultural programs. They als o hold a yearly community Prosfora, Christmas bazaar , and run fundraisers for various Ukrai nian causes such as the recent humanitarian a id drive for Ukraine and the Women’s Studies Lectureship at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L’viv, Ukraine. They co n- tribute regularly to Our Life and t he Ukrainian Museum. As president of the New England Region, I had the opportunity and pleasure to attend the follow- ing events : the 50 th Anniversary of Branch 73, together with Natio nal President Marianna Zajac, Mem- ber - a t - Large Mariya Andriyovych , and Soyuzianky from other branches ; the annual Mother/Father C ele- brations organized by Branch 73 ; and the fund raising presentation of Branch 108 by UNWLA President Marianna Zajac and 3 rd National Vice President, Sophi a Hewryk, for the Women’s Studies Lectureship at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L’viv. I also attended two annual National Board m eetings, partici- pated in conference cal ls and, with all regional council presidents, attended the Inter - Regional Meeting last Octo ber. Our R egion al Council ’s branches continue to be active and promote the goals of the UNWLA.
