152 ХХ Х Конвенція СУА ZORIANA HAFTKOWYCZ WEBMASTER The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) website has been redesigned and operational in both Ukrainian and English since 2009. The UNWLA website is maintained and regularly updated with news, articles, and information about upcoming events, wh ich are provided by UNWLA members. One of the more ambitious updates with regard to information during the last three years (2011 - 2014) was the successful digitizing, indexing, and posting of many UNWLA publications. The latter have included Our Life (“N ashe Zhyttia”) as of 1944, the Convention Books from 1925 to 2011, Jubilee Books of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America from 1921 to 1940, Souvenir Journal of the New York Re- gional Council of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Thirty Years (1940 - 1970), and The Ukrainian Woman in the Free World (1884 - 1959). The digitizing and posting of the UNWLA publications to the website have pro- vide d easy access to these publ ications for UNWLA members and the public worldwide. The process itself was challenging since the earlier publications were in very poor condition and were not in an electronic format. The poor condition of the publications required a great deal of manual processing and editing. During the process of integrating the Convention Books into the UNWLA website, I became aware of the wealth of information and a number of interesting articles contained in the books. For example, in the 1937 Convention Book th ere is an article titled “ЦІЛЬ І ЗАВ - ДАННЯ ОРГАН ІЗАЦІЇ СОЮЗУ УКРАЇНОК АМЕРИКИ”. In the 1945 Convention Book, a program item was listed about the or ganization of the Youth Forum: “WHAT ROLE SHALL THE UNWLA PLAY I N OUR UKRAINIAN AMERICAN LIFE?” Both of these article s have the potential to speak to the current situation . The 1962 Con vention Book featur ed a detailed history of the UNWLA from 1925 to 1962, including the role of the UNWLA in education, community service , etc. In the 1975 Convention Book, one finds detailed statistics referencing the number of branches organized/dis - solved, the number of members, financial information, etc. The Convention Books web page is design ed to provide features such as ta- ble of c ontents, bookmarks, thumbnails , etc. These are available in the lower left side of the screen. The books can be viewed online or downloaded as PDF files. As you peruse and search the Convention Books , you will find many “nice to remem- ber” pictures of yourself and friends. Please visit the we bsite and enjoy reading the history of the UNWLA from the II C onvention, held in 1935, to the XXIX Convention in 2011 , and soon you will be able to access the 2014 Convention Book. _______________________________
