ХХ Х Конвенція СУА 113 DARIA DROZDOVSKA , CORRESPONDING SECRETARY During my term as UNWLA Corresponding Secretary (2011 - 2013), I pa rticipated in the monthly meetings of the UNWLA Executive Committee and annual meetings of the UNWLA National Board. Fulfilling my tasks and duties, I wrote: minutes of the meeting of the Executive Committee (May 24, 2012); replies to various requests received by the UNWLA, thank - you letters, letters of condolence, greeting cards for organizations in the United States and Ukraine on occasions of different holidays and anniversaries. Assisted with urgent requests of the UNWLA president and vice presidents. I submitted an article for December 2013 issue of Our Life in which I reviewed the new book by the German journalist Altman Petra about healthy eating based on the recipes collected in monasteries and convents. In November 2011 and September 2013 respectively, I attended meetings with Volodymyr Ariev, MP of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Oksana Sushko, the WFUWO President. As a former chair of the Social Welfare Committee (2005 - 2008), I prepared a job description for th e Social Welfare Chair of the UNWLA National Board. The job description was approved by the UN- WLA Executive in 2013. On March 3, 2013, I participated in the Day of Heroines organized by the Women’s Association for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine together with the UNWLA Regional Council of New York City. I attended various events in the Ukrainian Museum: openings of exhibits, art programs, and film nights. Participated in the presentation of the book , Woman in Exile: My Life in Kazakhstan , by Ulana Lubovych (Juliana Starosolska), which is an English translation of her «Розкажу вам про Казахстан». The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ulana Lubovych’s birth; the book was introduced by its translator, Marie Ulanowicz, and Our Life Editor - in - Chief Lidia Slysh. I also attended the Ukrainian — themed fashion show which featured the works of Ukrainian designers Katya Pshechenko and Oksana Karavanska (from Ukraine) and Elena Vasilevsky (from the USA). On September 8, 2013, I participated in the celebration of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine’s In- dependence organized by diplomatic missions of Ukraine in the United States and hosted by the Ukraini- an Institute of America; and on September 15, I took part in the celebration of Independence Day orga- ni zed by the Women’s Association for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine, Ukrainian Youth As- sociation, and the UNWLA Regional Council of New York City. I took part in all commemorative events dedicated to the Holodomor and Chornobyl, and with the demons trations in support of the Kyiv Euromaidan. During my trip to Ukraine in the fall of 2013, I visited an orphanage in Nadvirna, Ivano - Frankivsk region, which provides medical and social care to orphans and children between 1 month and 4 years of age who wer e diagnosed with problems in physical or mental development. I would like to thank UNWLA President Marianna Zajac and all members of the Executive Board for their cooperation, and Olia Stasiuk, UNWLA office administrator, for her timely assistance with all the required updates and information. My sincere greetings go to the leadership and members of the UNWLA on the occasion of the XXX Convention, and I wish the incoming Executive Committee much inspiration and success in their work!
