Branch 115, whose Patroness is Lina Kostenko, has 35 members. All members subscribe to OUR LIFE magazine. Branch meetings are held monthly with an average of twelve members attending. Three Branch members are on the Board of the Detroit Regional Council. Each year Branch 115 sponsors a Pysanka Workshop for Children. This annual event has been Branch 115’s major fundraiser since 2000. The Pysanka Workshop supports and promotes Ukrainian cultural heritage and the community’s children look forward to participating in this event on Palm Sunday. The Branch organizes two bake sales a year at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church hall. The members’ home baked goods include a variety of popular Ukrainian recipes such as bulka, medivnyk and plyatsok. Proceeds from the Branch’s fundraising activities support the following UNWLA sanctioned programs: Scholarship Program, Milk and Rolls, Victims of Chernobyl Fund, and The Ukrainian Museum in New York City. In October 2007, the Branch sponsored a social welfare event featuring apple cider and donuts for the senior residents of the Ukrainian Village Apartments. Members wore Ukrainian blouses as they served and mingled with the residents. Over the past few years, members have participated in the following Branch social activities: attending a local musical and dinner, Christmas party hosted by the Branch President and an outing at a paint-it-yourself pottery studio. During 2007 and 2008 Branch members have been actively involved in the Convention Committee which is coordinating the XXVIII UNWLA CONVENTION to be held in May of 2008 in Detroit, Michigan.
