OKSANA XENOS, PARLIAMENTARIAN Combined Federal Campaign Each year (since 2004) I drafted and submitted UNWLA’s application for participation in the U. S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Comb ined Federal Campaign. As a result, since 2004, UNWLA has been designated as a National/International Independent Organization, to which federal employees, including military and postal personnel, may designate their annual payroll contributions and pledges. UNWLA’s new CFC number is 10325. These extensive annual projects involved the review and assembly of numerous financial statements, annual reports, and tax-related documents, and the preparation of a detailed description of UNWLA’s program activities, background data, organizational history, analysis of fundraising activities, terms of office, and activities of the National Board and the Executive Committee. Upon notification of UNWLA’s successful applications each year, I developed informational flyers, full-color “press quality” advertising materials, and media releases, which were published in OUR LIFE, The Ukrainian Weekly, and the Washington Post Express, and appeared as lead-in articles on unwla.org and brama.com. On December 19, 2007, I submitted UNWLA’s application for the 2008 Combined Federal Campaign. OUR LIFE I submitted the following materials for publication in OUR LIFE. “Amendments to UNWLA Bylaws Adopted at 27th UNWLA Convention” (July-August 2005) “Safeguarding UNWLA's Tax-Exempt Status: Frequently Asked Questions” (September 2005) “Planning Your Estate?” (October 2005) “Place Your Ad in OUR LIFE” (February 2006) “Commander Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper Honored at Embassy of Ukraine” (December 2006) “CFC Campaign Contributions” (June 2007) “CFC Flyer ” (multiple issues 2005-2007) “A Guide to our Eastern Rite Wedding ” (submitted 10-29- 07) Organizational and Liaison Activities At the request of UNWLA President Iryna Kurowyckyj, I participated in a number of functions in the Washington, DC, and New York City areas: November 1, 2005, and January 31, 2006. Attended meetings of the Jackson-Vanik Graduation Coalition, headed by former U. S. Ambassadors to Ukraine Steven Pifer and William Miller, held at the offices of the US-Ukraine Foundation in Washington, DC. The bill was passed with wide bipartisan support in March 2006.
